Christmas...

This post is extremely long, so feel free to just look at the pics and call it good if you'd like...I just wanted to at least sort of journal a bit of what happened. Also, sadly I have the same problem every year...we never get many pictures on Christmas because one of us is videoing everything and the other is helping with presents, so I am at least glad everything is on video...

Christmas Eve my parents, Whitney, Dani and JD came down to our house late that night, so that they could be here for Christmas. My other sisters were going to in-laws for Christmas, so I thought it would be fun to have everyone else down for Christmas. I love Christmas, everything about it...I love our Savior and his birth and the reason we celebrate. I love the feeling of giving, the music, the traditions, everything. I think it is especially wonderful when you have little ones...they are so fun and make Christmas that much more exciting! It was great to have my family down here with us. Our tree looked overloaded with all the gifts, by the time you factored in all the gifts my family brought down. Santa was good to the kiddos...Kenna got a bunch of clothes, books, a musical tea set, and more. Bridger got a game, books, clothes, and wait for it...a dog...yep, can you believe it?! I won't go too much into that for now...that could be a post in and of itself...us and a dog....I'll let you know how that is going. Anyway, Bridger was so excited he could hardly stand it...he didn't know what to do. Santa left a note saying there was one more gift in the garage, so he ran there and when he saw a dog he was giddy! He wanted to know if that was really for him, and he asked Josh if he was really going to let him have a dog! He named (with a bit of help to avoid him duplicating names of dogs he already knows) his dog Dasher...Dash for short. Dasher is a cute dog, a ridiculous amount of work, but it made Bridger's Christmas and he still loves the dog! Josh and I got a folding table and folding chairs from my parents...we were very excited about that because every time we have people over, we never have enough chairs. Josh gave me some adorable shirts and sweaters (I was so excited for that because I've been in dire need of clothes...lol) and a couple of gorgeous pictures of Christ. I gave him some shirts (he was not too excited about that ;)) and a nice pair of snow pants. After all the present excitement, we cleaned up the best we could, and got to work on dinner. We had turkey, stuffing, rolls, jello, salad, potatoes and gravy, and brownies. It was super delicious! After eating, my family headed home. It was great to have them here and it was an awesome Christmas!

Josh's great grandma was in town, so we got them all together for a 5 generation picture...pretty crazy because it's not very often that you can get 5 generations!

We spent Christmas Eve with Josh's family. We had a delicious dinner, enjoyed visiting, had a little Christmas quiz, and then present time. We were very spoiled! Josh got Call of Duty for the Xbox, a book, and a tie...I got a super cute coat and scarf, Bridger got a remote control car that flips over, Rocky the Robot Truck (from Adam and Ashley), an airplane that you paint (from Adam and Ashley also), and clothes...Kenna got very cute clothes, books, a doll, and a glow worm. We also got an awesome DVD that Feli, Neil, and Kayley made of the kids...I absolutely love it and would have to say it is my favorite gift because it captures my kids at this age and some of the things that I love about them. I'll have to post that on here sometime for anyone who wants to see it...it is seriously awesome! We had a great time with everyone and it was fun to just all be together! When we got home, we let Bridger open his Christmas jammies, he quickly put out cookies and watched me throw out the reindeer food because he was so tired...then he was excited to go to bed so that Santa could come!

These next three are kind of goofy...the family was not feeling the spirit of taking pictures to document our holiday lights experience...so yep, they are not too excited about it...especially Kenna...ha ha...I love my family!

We went to see Santa's reindeer at Thanksgiving Point on December 19...Bridger even got to pet them and feed them! He thought it was great! He was so excited and was telling them where he lives so that Santa would know where to go! We decided that the two reindeer there were Dasher and Blitzen! After seeing the reindeer, we drove through the holiday lights display...it was awesome and the kids loved it because we let them get out of their car seats so they could see the lights better! Bridger has always had a fascination with Christmas lights since he was a week or two old...seriously, I've never seen anything quite like it...lol!

December 14, 2009...

Yep, creative title, I know! I wanted to post some pictures from Kenna's actual birthday. On the evening of her birthday we had an extended Johnson family party to go to, so I also wanted to post a couple of pics from that as well! Also, side note, but today I noticed that Kenna...the slowest teether in the world (so I thought)...all of a sudden has two molars that have poked through, one that is nearly through and the 4th is not far behind...crazy! Also, just wanted to make note so that I remember how Kenna gives "kisses"...she puts her face on your face and then smells you! It is hilarious...you can hear her sniff...I think she just thinks you are supposed to make a sound or something, so she chooses to smell! She also likes to smell her blankie...she puts her fingers in her mouth, puts her blankie to her nose and sniffs it...loud...funny girl!

I took Bridger and Kenna both in for their yearly check ups on Kenna's birthday...I decided I would just have Bridger wait a month so I didn't have to make two trips over. Anyway, both are healthy and growing and doing great! Here are their stats...

Bridger...4 years
-Height: 44 1/4 inches...99th percentile
-Weight: 43 pounds...91st percentile

Kenna..12 months
-Height: 30 inches...80th percentile
-Weight: 20.14 pounds...48th percentile
-Head circum: 18 inches...70th percentile

Kenna updates...

Just a couple of things I want to remember for Kenna from this past week. Kenna finally had two more teeth pop through! It takes her months for teeth to come through...you can totally see them through the gums for ever! Anyway, it's the teeth on either side of her top front teeth...they came through on Monday. Last week she started taking a few steps, and then on Thursday she was around my friend's daughter who is 2 months older and can walk...Kenna watched her and started walking a ton! She walks at least 50% of the time...if she falls down, she just crawls. She is also starting to have more hair growing in...which is very exciting! She started out with a lot of hair, and it all fell out...so we've been waiting and it's finally coming...it's going to take forever to really be able to tell, but we can tell...oh and she is totally going to be our little red head! I also think she has another ear infection...she had one in November, December, and now January...sad! Bridger is also sick now...has a fever, sore throat and sounds awful! I hope the poor little guy gets feeling better soon!

Yep, this is very very behind and there are going to be many more posts that are way way behind, but that's just the way it is...I really want to/need to do better with updating my blog more since I use it as a way of "journaling"...anyway, here are pictures from Kenna's 1st birthday party! Still can't believe that she is 1!

We had her birthday party on Friday, December 11. Can I just say that it is so very difficult to schedule something like this to get the most immediate family members there as possible, with it being so close to Christmas! Fortunately we were able to find a date that worked for all but 3 (we missed them!). Kenna's party was ladybug themed and it was so fun! I found the most adorable dress for her that was red with black polka dots, so I knew it would be a perfect theme to go with! Her birthday cakes turned out great and were the easiest ones I've made yet! We decided to keep the evening a little easier and just have pizza. Whitney and Dani stopped on their way up from school and picked up the pizzas, which worked great! After eating, we had a little Kenna quiz with questions all about her and her stats! It was pretty tricky but some people did surprisingly well (Josh was not one of them...lol). After the "Kenna quiz", she opened presents. She got some awesome gifts, including a purse with fun things in it, books, clothes, sippy cups, savings bond, and more...she was fairly into opening her presents which was fun too! Next it was time for cake and I knew she was going to be horribly messy...she didn't disappoint either! Oh goodness, she was hilarious! As soon as she got a taste of it, there was no holding her back! It was a fun birthday party and we are grateful for all the support our family gives our children!

On Kenna's actual birthday there was a family Christmas party, so we let her open her presents from Mom, Dad and Bridger the day before. She was loving opening the presents, but as soon as she saw the toys, she didn't care about anything else and was mad when we took them away to have her open something else. We gave her a leapfrog puppy named Violet (she loves it and it is totally cute...can say her name, sings songs, and more!), books, and clothes. Bridger gave her a pop up toy. On her birthday we went to the doctor for her 12 month check up...I'll have to post the stats from that later (I don't remember them currently and need to find the paper with them). Yep, I am mean and took her for her shots on her birthday...sorry sweetie! Oh and Bridger was hilarious at the doctor appointment...he was so mad that they were hurting Kenna that he was trying to close the door on the nurses so they couldn't come in to do anything else! Anyway, happy birthday Kenna Beth!
